The fall and rise of Andrew Haglington. Born & educated in Sheffield, Andrew was a strong and fit husband, father, and ski instructor. After moving to live in Devon, it all fell apart, with disability, pain, suffering, divorce, loneliness, and isolation. Yet, after five years of severe ill health problems, confined to bed and a wheelchair, Andrew Haglington overcame adversity, rose from the ashes, and rebuilt not only a new life for himself, but invented the gobal phenomena that is social networking in the process.

These days it's difficult to imagine how Andrew spent day after day having to explain what he meant by 'social group', 'social networking', 'social media', and 'social enterprise'.

The concept was so new that many failed to understand and door after door was shut in Andrew's face. Unable to see the potential Andrew was talking about, clearly the UK did not want to back what might have been a £50Billion+ new industry for it's economy. Feeling as welcome as Charles Darwin in a church meeting, with his health still so poor, giving birth to the social sector was always going to be a struggle.

7 years before Facebook. 10 years before Twitter. This is the true 'behind the scenes' tale of how social media really happened, and all the hardship Andrew Haglington and his second wife Cathy Haglington went through in the process.

Cathy Haglington's background is in admin. She has over 20 years experience in customer service and banking with Lloyds TSB. She has operated a local history guided tour in Devon. Since 2003, Cathy Haglington has been Sales Director and Company Secretary for SGE Ltd.

Through their work in hospitality, Andrew & Cathy know almost every pub, restaurant, bar, hotel, and activity centre in South West England. They offer business advice and assistance to budding entrepreneurs and new start-ups, and are famously associated with small business and the private sector. Andrew has experience in stocktaking and business advice for the licenced trade. Cathy is a keen foodie and notable cook. The couple are well known restaurant critics and offer secret shopper / restaurant inspector style evaluations, and advice to help bring restaurants more custom.

The couple are experts in researching, organising, running and hosting social events, in looking after people, in exercising social skills, in confidence building, and in helping people.

Andrew & Cathy are professional events organisers with many years of experience, and they can be hired to research, plan, arrange, organise, and host social events, business networking events, treasure hunts, corporate functions, conferences, parties, staff do's, family dinner dances, weddings, anniversaries, and any sort of get-together.
