AVATAR (2009)
Avatar is almost certainly the biggest thing to hit the cinema in years - make sure you see a 3D screening where you have to wear the 3D glasses, and you are in for an amazing experience at a most beautiful and astounding sc-fi / fantasy epic!
If you haven't been to the cinema to see a film for ten years, this is
the one to go to see on the big screen - it's astonishing!
People have compared it's impact to Star Wars or Lord Of The Rings, but it is so stunning in 3D that this really is in a league of it's own and it's not surprising it won Best Picture and Best Director at The Golden Globes and looks set to clean up at the Oscars - and the film is one of the most successful of all time!
Avatar is written and directed by James Cameron, and stars Dam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver, Michelle Rodriguez, and Stephen Lang. The story is set in the year 2154 on Pandora, a moon in the Alpha Centuri star system.
Humans are engaged in mining Pandora's reserves of a precious mineral, to the detriment of the native Na'vi who's idylic natural existence is endangered. In order to interact with the natives, the humans use an articial genetically-engineered substitute body or 'avatar'. But the film is most about conservation and it's stunningly pretty. Absolutely marvellous and totally absorbing!
NOT TO BE MISSED & HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! 10/10
